About Us

Sophia Ruth Photography
"Sophia Ruth Photography" was formed in 2013 by Sophia, who fell into photography after being given a well loved Nikon D3100 and having had itchy feet watching many photographers at the other side of the barrier and wanting to be involved.
Sophia's photography career started out shooting gigs and festivals; learning on the job, her first attempt at photographing any gig what so ever, was 2000 Trees Festival in Cheltenham for online publication "The Ruckus", producing a photo that went on to be shortlisted by the NME in their Amateur Photographer of the Year Awards 2013. From that followed accreditation for Leeds Festival, which has followed every year since.
Having ridden for 29 years, it was only natural that the lens would turn towards her equine counterparts, with her 15 year old Connemara "Charlie" many times the guinea pig when trialing new lenses or techniques.
As a vet by day, editing post events can be a tiring process by night, but seeing everyone enjoy their images, makes the hours spent staring at a screen very worthwhile.
Currently we choose to use an external printing company, which although means we cannot print on the day, as Sophia physically cannot be two people at once, we feel the quality of the product makes this worthwhile vs what we would be able to produce from our own printers currently. HOWEVER - watch this space as we're hoping that a new printer will be arriving for the 2022 season making dispatch significantly quicker.
Photo's are available as digital files, prints, mounted prints and montages.
